Who is sandy pelkowsky?
Future CEO and current Finance Major at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Isenberg School of Management, I am the single female selected as the 2015 Welch Scholar from Salem High School by former CEO of General Electric, Jack Welch, for my dedication to people and leadership.
I aspire to become an influential woman in business and strive to partake in activities that will enhance my ability to lead with strength. I served as my high school graduating Class President where I verified my desire to execute major tasks and my love for representing others. I was also Vice President of National Honors Society, the female Class of 2015 Student-Athlete, and the single recipient of the George F. McCabe Award which is awarded to one graduating senior who has “exemplified the qualities of outstanding leadership and character”.
Into college, I continue to get involved and climb the ladders to positions of leadership in extracurriculars. I have served as the Co-Chair of Community Service and the Marketing Career Networking Night Co-Chair for the Isenberg Marketing Club, and am currently the Head of Recruitment and Outreach in the Minuteman Alternative Investment Fund where I am one of the two first-ever girls to be recruited.
I understand that in order to be a good leader I need to be experienced and understanding with regards to the world around me. I had the pleasure of volunteering on week-long service trips to New Orleans, Louisiana and Puerto Rico, traveled to South Africa with Isenberg to become exposed to an entirely different culture, and am studying abroad for an entire semester in Florence, Italy. I crave challenge, and with my hunger to learn and lead, I will be THE CEO.
